Hunting the Pembrokeshire Murderer: The Backstory tells the compelling account of how the `Bullseye Killer' John Cooper was first identified. Written by former Detective, S J Matchett, who worked on the original investigation, it offers an alternative and sometimes contrasting narrative to what is known about the case. Packed with details not in the public domain, he contextualises the emboldening criminal in the local, national and global context of the late 1980s and 1990sm including IRA activity in south-west Wales, the role homophobia may have played in the initial police response to one of the murders, and the impact of economic recession on areas remote from large urban centres.
