A laugh-out-loud British romantic comedy about a widow in her fifties, a much younger chimney sweep and a book club of tangled love lives. Warm ensemble romance with age-gap attraction, family drama and second chances at every turn. Love Arrives When You Least Expect It. Usually Down The Chimney. Emily, a fifty-something widow, gave up on romance long ago. Then a handsome twenty-something chimney sweep turns up on her doorstep and turns her world upside down. Whilst Emily grapples with her unexpected young suitor, her daughter Tabitha senses something amiss in her own relationship. Tabitha's ABBA-loving boss Meryl is convinced she's found true love at last. Emily's seemingly perfect sister Celeste may not have the idyllic marriage she shows the world. And Susan, resigned to a life of solitude, is still haunted by the one who got away. As their lives intertwine, each woman faces the same question: is it braver to settle for the life you know, or to sweep it all aside and start again?A Clean Sweep is a standalone romantic comedy, for readers who love age-gap romance, ensemble casts, book-club gossip and late-blooming love. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes and Mhairi McFarlane. This book had me giggling from the outset. It's a warm, witty read with relatable and loveable characters whose lives all intertwine in some way. I laughed and I shed tears, but mostly I found myself highly entertained by the internal dialogue and unwitting drama that followed each of the ladies of the book club. A Clean Sweep is a light-hearted cosy romance full of brilliant characters that will delight the reader.
