A beloved classic and an undisputed masterpiece, Charlotte Bront's Jane Eyre boldly challenges ideas of class, society, love and religion. The orphaned Jane Eyre grows up suffering under cruel guardians, harsh schooling and rigid social conventions. Now a young woman, when she begins work as a governess for the mysterious Mr Edward Rochester at Thornfield Hall, the stage is set for an intensely obsessive romance. Their romantic entanglement is threatened when Jane discovers that Mr Rochester is hiding disturbing secrets. As Jane is pulled into his world of mystery and madness, she proves herself to be one of Victorian literature's most courageous heroines. Madame Bovary, Lady Audley's Secret and Lady Chatterley's Lover are also available in this Macmillan Collector's Library series of gorgeous paperbacks featuring four of the most scandalous novels ever published.
